Photos and Film for Teavision: On the Factory Floor with Tea and Herb Blending
We recently spent time with the team at Teavision shooting stills and film on their factory floor, focused on the blending process - how the tea and herbs actually come together before they reach a cup or a shelf. It's a different kind of brief to a straightforward product shoot: less about a single hero image, more about capturing a process as it happens.
Teavision supplies loose leaf tea, tea bags, and bulk herbs and spices to cafes, retailers, and wellness brands across Australia. The brief for this shoot was the factory itself and the blending process - wide shots of the floor and equipment, close-up detail of the tea and herbs as they're blended, and film covering the process in motion.
Photographing the Factory Floor
Shooting a working factory floor means working around live production rather than staging it:
Scale and layout - capturing the equipment and floor in a way that shows how the space actually works, not just isolated pieces of machinery.
Lighting - factory floors mix overhead lighting with natural light from windows or skylights, which takes some care to balance so equipment and product both read clearly in the same frame.
Timing around a live process - blending runs on its own schedule, so getting the right moment means being ready rather than directing the action.

The most interesting part of the shoot was getting in close on the blending itself - the moment individual teas and herbs combine into a finished blend. Close-up shots here do a lot of work: they show texture, colour, and the sheer variety of ingredients going into a blend in a way a wide factory shot can't. It's less about product styling and more about capturing a genuine moment in the process.
Filming the Process
Alongside stills, we filmed the blending process in motion - the way loose tea and herbs move and combine as they're blended. Video captures something a photo can't: the rhythm and texture of the process actually happening. For a wholesale supplier like Teavision, that kind of footage works well across a website and social content, giving people a genuine look at how their products are made rather than a staged or stock alternative.
Why This Kind of Work Is Different
A factory floor and blending process is a different brief to a standard industrial job or a product shoot - it sits somewhere between the two. The same fundamentals still apply though: understanding what the footage and images actually need to show, and being ready to capture a process on its own terms rather than trying to control it. It was a good project to sit alongside our industrial and hospitality work - different subject, same approach.
